These bronze, sculptural earrings feature lapis lazuli and moonstone. They have an ancient, yet luxurious, appeal. Wear them when you want to step into your wisdom . . . managing a team or presenting a novel idea.
INSPIRATION:
As a retired engineer and lawyer, now a grandmother and artist, I think about what wisdom I may have garnered over the years. I think about the wisdom of the ancients and ultimately, how little that has changed over the millennia. I feel wizened, though not ancient :)
PROCESS:
* Starting with fusing bronze into nuggets sent me on the path for these earrings. I then fused jumprings together to make them irregular and thick. And, I torched both the bezel and the plate (which is behind the lapis) to add a rough texture and wavy edge.
* The small flowers I made from 1” discs, that were cut toward the center. Each little segment was then balled using the heat of a torch.
* I set the stones and textured the bezels to make them look hammered
* Finally, I polished the bronze with a brass brush, giving the earrings a golden glow.
