This one-of-a-kind bronze ring began with a Japanese woodblock print of a red poppy. I was drawn to the flower’s irregular, curling petals and strong graphic quality, and wanted to reinterpret that two-dimensional image as a small sculpture for the hand.
I sculpted the poppy by hand, cast it in bronze, and finished the petals with a vivid red patina, leaving glimpses of warm golden bronze along the edges and at its clustered center.
Bold, romantic and a little unruly, this is not traditional floral jewelry. Wear it as an unexpected flash of red with a crisp white shirt and jeans, or against architectural black for an evening out.
